FAQ’s
October 14, 2009When is payment due by: Your payment is due the day of the session, unless otherwise agreed upon. I accept cash or checks made out to Holly Anderson. You may also pay by paypal before the session using the link on my Investments page.
What is your availability: Typically, I’m available on most weekends during the year. I normally book up 3-4 weeks in advanced. Some weekdays may also be available, we will just need to chat and find a time that works for us both.
What’s the best time for a session: For an outdoor session, Colorado sun works it’s wonders best in the morning. If mornings aren’t good for you, I would suggest late afternoon. For indoor sessions, do what works best for you! When working with young children, schedule a session around their normal nap time, snack time, and meal times.
What should I bring to a session: You can bring almost anything if cleared in advanced. If we’re outdoors, I can shoot cars, animals, boats, etc. For indoor shoots, we do have to limit the size of the prop, but dogs, cats, and other small pets are still welcome!
For senior pictures, you’re welcome (and encouraged) to bring sports equipment, musical equipment, letter jackets, etc. Anything that defines your experience in high school is recommended.
For infant and toddler pictures, bring in a favorite blanket or toy! Not only does it help your child feel relaxed, but in 10 years when that favorite has been long gone, you’ll love looking back and remembering!
What should I wear: This is probably the most frequently asked question! For outdoor sessions, you can wear almost anything you’d like if we’re in the right environment! Since Colorado weather can be extreme, I would recommend basing your outfits on the season!
For indoor studio sessions, you will most likely be photographed on a white background. I would suggest wearing jeans or khaki pants and a light, solid colored shirt. Earthy tones look great as well!
Some general tips:
*Stay away from heavy patterns. Not only can they bleed in photographs, but they also can date the photo.
*You don’t have to match exactly. Complimentary colors work very well.
*Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in. If you feel uncomfortable, it will often show on your face.
*Avoid heavy jewelry and heavy makeup. You should look natural, not overdone. Ladies, do your makeup as if you were going out for a nice evening dinner.
*Remember that you will sometimes be photographed from head to toe. Coordinate shoes, and even nail polish as well!
*For typical sessions, you are welcome to bring up to 3 outfit changes. Keep in mind though that the time it takes you to change is taken out of your session.
*Glasses will almost always glare, especially with a high prescription. You can either leave them off or position them to get the least amount of glare as possible (generally pointed down on your face). Sometimes eye doctors will let you take a loaner pair of frames home without the lenses. It can’t hurt but ask.
*The more skin you show, the less the focus is going to be on your face. Keep that in mind.
